Positive Black Affirmations for Boys and Girls | FREE VIDEO AND ACTIVITY

I am the mother of two young girls, ages 5 and 9. As a Black woman, it is really important to me that they are exposed to positive messages that contrast with the negative stereotypes that they encounter. That’s why I have my daughters do morning affirmations every morning. We talk about things like being kind and confident and loving themselves no matter what anyone else tells them. It helps set a positive mindset for the day in a way that I think is really important.

The affirmations also focus on positive thinking, which I think is really empowering for my daughters at this age. Having a positive attitude is essential for creating good things in your day. It helps us to remain upbeat and motivated, no matter what tasks lie ahead. For example, if we start our day with the expectation that it will be wonderful, then we will be more likely to take on more challenges and enjoy the results of our hard work. When having a positive outlook, it can help in planning out your day so that you can accomplish everything you set out to do.

When facing difficult or stressful situations, it’s important not to let negative thoughts cloud our judgment. Instead, focus on finding solutions for any problems and use affirmations like “I am capable” or “I am strong” as reminders of your worthiness and power within yourself. Looking at the bright side of things can also help lift your spirits; try to see the silver lining in every situation!

What Is An Affirmation?

An affirmation is a positive statement that can help to shape and focus your thoughts. It’s a tool used to help people build confidence, find motivation, and make progress towards their goals. Affirmations can be used in all areas of life—from personal relationships to career advancement. Whether you’re looking for practical advice or just trying to give yourself an emotional boost, affirmations are the perfect way to start.

An affirmation is designed to be repeated often throughout the day. This repetition allows it to sink into your subconscious mind and become part of who you are. The power of an affirmation comes from its ability to influence how you think, act, and feel about yourself as well as others around you. Instead of focusing on negative thoughts or doubts about yourself, using affirmative statements can help create a more positive mindset.

Should Children Do Affirmations?

Starting affirmations at a young age is incredibly beneficial for many reasons. Positive thoughts have been proven to help children set goals and intentions, improve self-esteem, and develop a strong sense of self worth. By practicing positive affirmations at an early age, children can reap these benefits from an earlier start in life.

Affirmations are powerful tools that train the subconscious mind to think positively about ourselves, our environment, and our future. With regular repetition throughout our lives, these types of positive thoughts become ingrained in our self-concepts over time and allow us to live more happily and confidently. When taught good habits such as self care and love from a young age, we will be much more likely to continue them into adulthood which leads to long term success in life.

Black Affirmations

In today’s world, it is more important than ever for black girls and boys to have high self-esteem. This is because they face a unique set of challenges that their peers may not experience. They are subjected to racism and microaggressions which can damage their sense of worthiness and belonging. Microaggressions are subtle forms of prejudice and discrimination that are often overlooked or ignored by others. For example, a Black girl may be told they’re too loud or aggressive even when they’re speaking at the same volume as other students. Sometimes this can lead to them feeling embarrassed and discouraged from participating in class.

Black boys may also experience microaggressions such as being labeled as “troublemakers” for having the same behavior as other students who aren’t seen in the same way. This type of bias can have serious consequences on a child’s self-esteem and academic success throughout their educational years.

Having strong self-esteem helps black children to resist these negative messages from the outside world. It gives them confidence in themselves as well as belief in their ability to achieve success despite challenges or obstacles they may encounter along the way.

Affirmations in the Mirror

Having a child do affirmations in the bathroom mirror can seem awkward at first. It takes a lot of bravery to look into the mirror and say something positive about oneself, especially when it’s being done as part of a “task”. However, it can also be incredibly beneficial in helping them develop positive self-talk and foster a healthier mindset. Doing affirmations encourages children to think more deeply about their strengths and accomplishments, which can help boost their self-esteem and build their overall confidence. Utilizing this practice is an effective way to support our kids in developing a positive attitude toward themselves.

The key is to create an environment that’s free from judgment or criticism so they feel safe enough to experiment with different affirmations. As parents, we need to make sure our words are encouraging rather than dismissive or negative.

Conclusion

Positive affirmations are a great way to help enhance self esteem in Black boys and girls. The power of positive encouragement is important for any child, but especially so for those who have traditionally been marginalized due to race. By repeating positive statements throughout the day, such as “I am smart” or “I can do anything I set my mind to”, Black children can build up their sense of worth and capability. This helps them recognize their own potential.

It’s also helpful for adults in Black children’s lives to say these affirming statements aloud when they’re around them – like during bedtime stories or while playing games together. Doing this reminds the kids that they are loved and appreciated even when they don’t feel it themselves.
